Tokyo, March 1, 2023 -- Genesis Healthcare launches a COVID-19 and Influenza Combo PCR test designed for At-Home-Use. Since introducing its COVID-19 PCR testing services in April 2020, Genesis Healthcare has conducted over 700,000 tests during the pandemic, supporting medical institutions, public facilities, private institutions and consumers alike through mail-based and/or on-site testing.
Genesis Institute of Genesis Research (GIGR), Genesis Healthcare’s research arm has developed a COVID-19 and Influenza combination testing through PCR method, which is the golden standard for viral genetic testing. Since both COVID-19 and flu have similar symptoms, being able to distinguish between COVID-19 and Influenza A/B without the need for additional testing is considered useful to determine the best course of treatment in the fastest turnaround time.
As of March 1st, 2023, Genesis Healthcare is now entering its 20th year since our founding, we continue to strive and give back to our customers and to society through innovation in genetic science.
With a single saliva sample and from the convenience of at-home or in-the office, samples will be safely returned via post to the laboratory of Genesis Healthcare. Each RNA collection kit featuring a preservative solution that inactivates the viruses for safe handling and transportation. Results are provided on-line for additional convenience.
The retail price of GeneLife COVID-19 and Influenza PCR test is set at JPY 7,980.- (inclusive of tax) and sales starts from March 1, 2023 in Japan.
