COMPLIANCE RULES

We make sure to specify that results from our genetic testing services are not meant to give a diagnosis

The services we provide do not correspond with medical practices and the results gained out of our testing services are not to be taken as a diagnosis. These test results cannot replace an examination or diagnosis made by a medial practitioner or prescription of medication. When you are currently under treatment or are going to see a medical practitioner for medical examination in the future, we urge you to adhere to their instructions.

The results on body conditions etc. are made based on scientific evidence (published papers or research conducted by GH) and we make sure to specify these.

As the leading company in the genetic testing industry, we attempt best practice in every aspect in order to evaluate and validate scientific evidence backing our results.

The results gained out of the tests we provide, correspond with the findings of the latest scientific and academic research papers which we consider most fitting at this very moment in time. Our very own genetic testing laboratory (further referred to as ‘GH genetic testing lab’) is continuously working on evaluating scientific evidence in order to solidify the results we gain out of our testing services whilst putting an emphasis on the following variables.

1. Subject population: Scientific evidence found in mainly South-East Asian or Japanese population
2. The name of the research paper, author and the year
3. Evaluation of referenced papers
4. Validation and comparison of GH’s own data

Please note, that the correlation between environmental and genetic factors is still in the stages of research, which is why it is not completed yet. If in the near future, new developments occur, test results will be modified accordingly in correlation to their scientific evidence being updated as well.

Also, please note, that although GH is using the latest technologies in the genetic testing field, there is still a limit of how far we can test, still due to developments of technologies. Therefore, we kindly ask for your understanding that the information we provide through our testing services has its limits still, at this point in time.

We openly disclose which areas of the gene will be relevant for the testing parameters. For details of the testing parameters, please refer to each testing kit. GH also discloses the form for declaration of consent to genetic testing.

The assessment of the result of the test shows that among there is a general tendency among those who show similarities in characteristics of their genes.

At GH we utilize odds-ratio for risk assessment. Odds-ratio means, that if the value is higher than 1, there is a higher risk of developing certain conditions among those with similar characteristics of genes like you.

You may look at explanatory documents on what each genetic testing service entails via our pamphlets or homepage links, which you will find below.

We disclose all information on guidelines we follow when providing our services and running our business endeavors. We also mention that we adhere to the guidelines on “Protection of Genetic Information” provided by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
